XPO Extends Pandemic Paid Sick Leave
We’re extending our Pandemic Paid Sick Leave policy through the end of July, with further extensions to be decided on a month-by-month basis. Benefits under the policy remain unchanged—full-time employees in the US are eligible for up to two weeks of 100%-paid sick leave on top of their standard PTO. Pandemic Paid Sick Leave can be utilized when an employee or a member the employee’s household is awaiting results of a doctor- or government-ordered COVID-19 test, or when an employee is under mandatory quarantine.

XPO Works with NYC to Provide Logistics Support for US Epicenter
In response to the COVID-19 outbreak in New York City, the US epicenter of the pandemic, XPO has been coordinating with the New York City Emergency Management Department to provide logistics support and manage their emergency stockpile program. We’ve distributed medical cots and supplies to the pop-up hospital at the Javits Center, and delivered food supplies, medical products, blankets and other essential items across the city.

XPO Donates 90,000 Surgical Masks to Hospitals in Paris Area
With our sites worldwide now sufficiently stocked with PPE and sanitizers, XPO was able to donate 90,000 surgical masks to hospitals in and around Paris, France. The donation was made following a massive procurement effort focused on keeping our frontline employees safe. To date, we have distributed 800,000 disposable masks; 205,000 reusable masks; over 1.4 million disposable gloves, with another 1.5 million on order; and nearly 90,000 gallons of hand sanitizers. In the US alone, we have distributed 2,500 gallons of disinfecting solutions, with over 2.5 million square feet of space disinfected in compliance with CDC guidelines. We’ll continue to ensure our employees have the PPE they need to do their jobs as essential workers.

XPO Partners with UK Retailer to Donate Aid to Workers and Hospitals
XPO has partnered with Beauty Bay, an online beauty products retailer in the UK, to provide logistics support under a program benefitting the NHS charity, COVID-19 Urgent Appeal. Under the program, all profits from the sale of 16 essential products, including hand sanitizer, will be donated to the charity. XPO is assisting with the delivery of 43,000 self-care products to frontline NHS workers in the Greater Manchester area, and with the distribution of nearly $270,000 worth of self-care products to hospitals throughout the area.

The tour spotlights measures being taken at our facilities worldwide, including resourceful approaches to maintaining social distancing, and strict handwashing and sanitizing protocols.

Appreciation Pay Program Rolled Out for Frontline Workers in US and Canada
We’re rolling out an appreciation pay program for nearly 40,000 employees in the US and Canada whose responsibilities require them to work on the front lines during the COVID-19 crisis. The program aims to recognize the contributions of employees who don’t have the option of working from home due to the essential nature of our business. Hourly employees in our US and Canadian distribution centers will receive $2 per hour on top of their regular hourly rate, while salaried employees in these sites will receive weekly lump-sum payments ranging from $100 to $250, depending on position. Field employees working in our service centers within our LTL business unit will instead receive a one-time bonus of $500 for all full-time employees, and $250 for all part-time employees.

Procurement of Supplies Ramped Up to Protect Frontline Employees
XPO’s corporate procurement team is continuing to secure bulk quantities of supplies to protect our frontline employees in the US. By the end of the month we will have distributed 500,000 disposable masks, 25,000 reusable masks, 25,000 one-gallon containers of hand sanitizer and 52,000 12-oz. bottles of hand sanitizer. These shipments supplement the sourcing performed locally by our locations across the country since the onset of the crisis. In addition, we have developed an enhanced cleaning schedule across all sites, with complete facility disinfectant activity surpassing 2.6 million square feet to date.

Partnership with Ford Expedites PPE Shipments
XPO’s expedite team in Southfield, Michigan, is managing the transportation needs of Ford Motor Co.’s PPE program during the pandemic. The team is expediting hundreds of shipments of visors, N95 masks and gowns to hospitals, fire departments, police stations and assisted living centers across the US.

Updated Mask Guidance Released
In accordance with updated guidance from the CDC, we are encouraging employees to make their own face coverings as an interim measure until the supply of masks catches up with demand. Many of the thousands of masks we’ve ordered have already been delivered to our sites, and we will continue deliveries as they arrive. In the meantime, sites are being provided with print and digital posters explaining the guidance, along with pointers to how-to guides for making cloth face coverings.

‘No Contact’ Delivery Policy in Place
Our LTL and Last Mile businesses have instituted a strict ‘no contact’ policy when making deliveries, with the exception of large household appliances. Since appliances are considered essential goods, we continue to offer delivery and installation services. In all other cases, our drivers now maintain a safe distance from customers when delivering freight, or they leave deliveries at the front door, in a garage or an alternate location. We’re also using digital verification with photographs as proof of delivery, which we send to customers instead of asking them to sign delivery receipt forms that could lead to transmission of the virus.

Pandemic Paid Sick Leave
We’re providing up to two weeks of 100%-paid sick leave (up to 10 days or 80 hours) per full-time employee. Pandemic Paid Sick Leave is retroactive to March 1, 2020, and will be in effect until May 15, 2020. These paid sick days are in addition to our standard paid time off (PTO) policy, which is provided to employees to use when they’re ill, taking a vacation or need to be away from work.
